Poker at the Wanted table

Wanted 1.22 deals Texas hold'em in game. Host a table or sit at one, for chips, for gold, or against computer players, with a deal that nobody at the table can rig.

Nothing better after a day of hunting than playing some poker with that hard-earned gold. From today the Wanted addon deals Texas hold'em at its own table.

A seven-seat table mid-hand: the flop out, chips and bets on the felt, the hand log beside it

How a hand works

Open the Poker page in the Wanted window, or type /wanted poker. Host a table, or sit at one another Wanted player on your faction is hosting. A four-step form walks the host through the choices: a cash game or a tournament, who plays and for what, the table's name, seats and clock, and a plain review of the whole thing before it opens.

The deal is the part worth explaining. Before each hand every player's addon makes a secret and sends the host a fingerprint of it. Once every fingerprint is in, the secrets follow, and the deck is shuffled from all of them together. Nobody can change a secret after seeing the others without breaking their own fingerprint, so nobody can choose the deck, the host included. After the hand, every addon at the table checks the host's account of it: the secrets, the deck they make, its own cards and the board, and that the pot went where the actions say it should. A hand that fails the check is marked in red for everyone.

Chips, gold, or practice

A game for chips is a friendly one. Nothing is sent and nothing is owed.

A game for gold is cash on the table, the way a home game works. Your buy-in goes to the host first, by a trade in person or by mail, and you are dealt in once it has arrived. When you leave, the host owes you your stack. Every one of those lines sits under Settlement on the Poker page, Pay fills the mail in at any mailbox, a trade of the right amount marks a line paid by itself, and a debt the host leaves two days counts against their reputation with everyone who sat there. Nobody owes anyone but the host, so no seat can run up a debt, and the host's books and the table itself are kept safe through a crash.

Practice fills the other seats with computer players, on play money that looks like gold. They bet their hands, call when the price is right, fold the rest, and bluff now and then, in three styles, so the table is a fair rehearsal for the real one.

Tournaments

A tournament starts everyone on the same chips and runs the blinds up on a clock you set, with late entry for a few levels if you want it, antes if you want them, places by the order players went out, and prizes by place. The form tells you about how long it should run for the stack, the players and the level time you chose.

Where you can play

Anywhere. Tables keep running in dungeons and raids, and when a boss fight stops the game's addon messages the table pauses its clocks and picks up where it was. Your seat survives a reload, too: the addon takes it again when you are back.

Poker comes with Wanted 1.22 as a second folder in the same download, on by default. Update on CurseForge, open the Poker page, and deal.
