Every number here comes from players running Wanted, so it fills in as more of you join. More players means more kills named and confirmed. Get the addon or help test it

How the boards work

Every number on the site comes from records the addon makes in game, uploaded by the desktop app. Here is how they are counted.

How kills are verified

Anyone can edit an addon on their own computer, so no single record is trusted on its word. A kill is only as good as the independent records that back it up.

Two kinds of record. The Wanted addon records the deaths it sees in game, and who killed you (from your death recap). The desktop app also reads the game's combat log, which names the killing blow for every death in range. Both are uploaded by the app, signed with a key that stays on the player's computer, so a record can't be changed on the way or sent in someone else's name.

Three levels:

  1. Claimed: only the killer's own records say so.
  2. Witnessed: another character's record saw the same death (same victim, same zone, within a minute), but we can't tell who runs it. It could be the killer's alt.
  3. Confirmed: another person, signed in to this site from another computer, recorded the same death. Confirmed kills rank first.

The victim's own word is the strongest record: a player who runs Wanted records who killed them, and nobody else can make that record for them. Every death has its own page listing every record of it, from both factions, with what the victim's record says.

Kill proof: when a kill claims a bounty, the addon stamps who, where, when and the kill's id on screen and has the game save a screenshot, with no button to press. The poster sees the hunter has one, and a disputed kill can be settled by the picture. It shows the whole scene at that moment, which is hard to fake, though a stamp alone could be.

Bounties are checked in game the same way, and gold never moves by itself: the claim is evidence, and the poster decides. Before confirming, the addon warns the poster when nobody else recorded the death, or when the only witnesses are new or only ever back up that hunter, and gives the address of the death's page here. A disputed claim stays on the hunter's record.

Under review: a player with more kills nobody else recorded than anyone could make is put under review, and only their confirmed kills rank until the pace looks possible again.

Which kills count

Witnessed and claimed kills are unconfirmed. Every count on the site shows them, with the confirmed ones beside it, and they order players after their confirmed kills, so the boards fill in from the first night. Only confirmed kills put one player above another who has more of them.

Named killers: the game doesn't tell an addon who killed anyone but you. When you die, the addon reads the killer from your death recap and names them in your death record; when someone in your group lands a killing blow, it names them too. Either counts as a witnessed kill for that player, even if they don't run Wanted.

Your own second computer can't confirm your kills, and neither can your alts.

Assists: when the game credits you an honorable kill you didn't land, the addon records an assist on the death it just saw (WoW Forever doesn't name the victim). Assists are confirmed the same way, count toward Honorable kills and Helped kill, and never count as kills.

Numbers under review

More than 60 kills in 10 minutes that nobody else recorded is more than anyone could make, so a player with that many is put under review: their unconfirmed kills stop counting, and only their confirmed kills rank. Kills other players recorded never count toward it, however fast they come (a mage in a siege), and kills in two zones close together don't either: fighting across a zone border or using a hearthstone does that.

Windows and updates

Boards show the whole season, the last 7 days or the last 24 hours. They're worked out again every 5 minutes.

Hidden players

Anyone can hide a character. A hidden character has no page and shows as "Hidden player". Their kills and deaths still count in other players' totals.
